What I treat

I provide a combination of medication management and CBT-based psychotherapy.

In terms of my treatment philosophy, I believe that all behaviors made sense at the time they were formed. I believe that we can only change our behaviors when we are willing to see it clearly for everything that it is—which includes not just the ugly and dysfunctional pieces of it, but also how it reflects something beautiful or good about us. I believe change is hard, but that it is always possible. I also believe that medication can play a key part in the change we want, as I believe it is the physical brain that makes the mind.

I think we would be a good fit if your primary concerns are related to: depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, or trauma. Diagnoses I specialize in treating and managing are: mood disorders (major depressive disorder, bipolar affective disorder), anxiety disorders (GAD, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias), and trauma-associated disorders (PTSD and cPTSD). I also treat ADHD, as it is often comorbid with the above conditions.

While I am queer-allied and would accept patients who carry the following diagnoses, I do not believe I would be the best fit for a patient whose primary concern is related to: psychosis (from schizophrenia spectrum disorders as opposed to mood disorders), substance use issues, eating disorders, gender dysphoria, behavioral issues from severe ASD, psychiatric symptoms of dementia syndromes, or paraphilic and sexual issues. While I know how to address or treat these issues to the extent that would be expected generally of a psychiatrist, I would want patients with those issues to work with a psychiatrist who is more specialized in those topics to get the best care.
